Penalties in either half from Sam Mackay and Gary Harris sees Fraserburgh and Academy battle out a 1-1 draw.

The Scorries looked like heading for their 11th away win in this year's campaign after Sam Mackay's spot kick gave them the lead midway through the first half. But in a dramatic finale, Gary Harris kept his nerve to beat Sean McCarthy from 12 yards as Fraserburgh stole a point right at the death.

Harris caused Wick's defence problems throughout the game and had a golden chance to give the hosts the lead at 14 minutes when his well-struck shot was well saved by McCarthy who tipped the ball around the post.

Wick took the lead in the 20th minute when Ross County teenager Ross MacIver, who is on loan from the SPL club, was fouled in the penalty box by Bryan Hay. Sam Mackay kept his cool to fire the ball past Joe Barbour from the spot with his 19th goal of the season.

0 - 1

Fraserburgh almost equalised two minutes later when Graham Johnston saw his shot cleared off the goal-line to allow Academy to go into the interval with a slender one goal lead.

McCarthy had to be at his best to keep out a lusty strike from Scott Henry while at the other end, Mackay went close to getting his second of the game when his shot crept inches past the post.

MacIver continued to impress during his loan spell and almost grabbed his first goal for the club when he beat several defenders to steal into the box, but he fired his shot wide of the target.

Academy defended well in the second half but were unable to see out the game and in the final minute Grant Steven was judged to have pulled Harris' shirt in the box to concede the penalty which former Turriff United and Deveronvale frontman Harris duly converted.

1 - 1

Academy could have won the match in injury time when Steven Anderson's spectacular volley flew just over, leaving the sides having to settle for a share of the spoils.

The draw keeps Academy fifth, ahead of Fraserburgh on goal difference and with a game in hand on the Buchan outfit.
