Big Rab Bolsters Kirkwood Coaching Staff

Wick Academy has added the services of Rab Mulheron to the coaching staff. Rab joins the team with immediate effect and Club Secretary Alan Farquhar fills in the details.

"Wick Academy FC is delighted to announce Rab Mulheron has agreed to become part of the Coaching Staff and will take up his role at the club with immediate effect and will therefore be in the Home dugout on Saturday 17th December 2011 against his former Club Strathspey Thistle FC; alongside the Manager Davie Kirkwood and his assistant Richard (Tichie) Hughes.

The Club is absolutely delighted that someone with Rab's knowledge and experience has chosen Wick Academy FC when he had other opportunities available to him within the Scottish Highland Football League.

Rab has been involved in football for 48 years as a Player, Coach and Manager and his experience and knowledge of the Scottish Highland League will be invaluable to the Manager, his assistant and the up and coming coaches at the club.

He is very well respected within the SHFL, where he has been Manager at Nairn County FC, Clachnacuddin FC, Fort William FC and Rothes FC, also assistant at Lossiemouth FC and Strathspey Thistle FC whilst holding a scouting role at SFL side Ross County FC.

The Club was initially approached by our Manager Davie Kirkwood who made it known that Rab was available after recently departing his home town team Strathspey Thistle FC for personal reasons. Davie made it clear he would very much like to add Rab to his coaching team as he felt it was another step in the right direction in his quest to develop the talented young squad at his disposal and bring success to the Club.

We have continually stated that we will fully support our Manager Davie Kirkwood where-ever possible to help him be successful at Wick Academy FC and the appointment of Rab shows our commitment to Davie, the team and our loyal supporters.

Wick Academy FC believes that Rab has the proven ability, coaching experience and aptitude to help our current Management Team improve the squad, and therefore we are delighted to have such a highly respected coach working at the Club.

Wick Academy FC is both delighted and excited by Rab's appointment and we hope the Supporters will be too. We feel this appointment demonstrates that Wick Academy FC are very determined and very serious about becoming a stronger force in Scottish Highland League Football and beyond and feel he will help Davie and Richard to enhance the quality of the current squad whilst also helping them to develop players both individually and collectively."
