Wick Academy FC recently ran a “Design a Christmas card” competition through the schools within Caithness. A total of 171 entries were received from Wick South Primary, Wick North Primary, Hillhead Primary, Reay Primary and MAASK. From this 29 prize winners were selected and 10 entries competed for overall winner.

The top 3 places in the competition went to:

Erin MacDonald

Liam Banks

South School

Leona Farquhar

North School

Mrs Moira Budge, part of the judging panel, along with (Secretary) Alistair Ross and (Committee Member) John Briskham, said:

“The quality of entry was to an extremely high standard. All three judges were very impressed by the effort and variety of card submitted and choosing winners has proved to be a very difficult task. We hope to display the 29 placed cards locally for viewing, as well as displaying the winners from each group in our web site gallery here. All winners will be invited to attend the home match against Forres Mechanics on the 23rd of December, where the overall winner, Erin MacDonald (Hillhead Primary), will be the team mascot for the day. Erin’s card has been printed as Wick Academy FC’s Official Christmas Card for 2006 and will be sent as far a field as Australia to represent our football club. On behalf of everyone at Wick Academy FC, I would like to thank everyone who entered.”
