Chairmans Xmas Message

Chairman's Christmas Message 2007

colin_2007 We are again fast approaching the end of 2007, and on behalf of the Committee, Management Team, Coaches and Players, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sponsors, Supporters and Helpers for their tremendous support for 2007.

Having narrowly missed out on our best ever finish to the season, we started season 2007/2008 on a high with a win against Lossiemouth at the Harmsworth putting us at the top of the Highland League. We are nearing the end of the first half of the season sitting on 12 points and I am sure by the end of the season we will be sitting mid table. One of the high points this season was the 1-0 win against Inverurie Locos at Harlaw Park, our first ever win there. The only downside was I was staying in Inverurie that night and missed out on the celebrations on the way home on the bus. Another pleasing point is hearing other Committee members and coaches saying that Wick Academy play very attractive football and is never an easy team to get points from.

This season we have changed the Youth from Under 19's, to an Under 17's with James Robertson as Manager and assisted by David Dunn. So far they have a 100% record of wins. I have watched them and there is a lot of talent in that team and some already have been drafted into the first team. Another pleasing point, is that there are regularly 15/16 turning up from training on a Wednesday night from all over the county. We must not forget the Under 15's who are coached by Caithness United, and now that we have the Under 17's, they now have the opportunity of progressing from the 15's to the 17's.

At the start of the Season we launched  "The Scorrie Scoop" weekly draw, and I have been overwhelmed by the support we have received both by people buying the tickets and also by everyone that has been selling the tickets. I would like to thank the Seaforths Club for allowing us to make the draw there every Monday at 7pm.  We will use the funds to enhance the facilities around the Harmsworth Park and will keep you informed. A big thanks to you all for the support.

It was decided at the start of the Season that we would invite youth teams to come along to the Harmswoth before a match for the pre match warm up. Both Titchie and Zeeky endorsed this and all the teams that have been so far have enjoyed the experience. I must thank the Liam Henderson Trust for supplying Rain Jackets for them.

I look forward to seeing you all in 2008. Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
