Academy travelled to Princess Royal Park today to face Deveronvale and they notched up a fine 2-1 win. The home side took an early lead through Chris Blackhall, but a penalty from Richard Macadie and a Steven Anderson winner was enough to secure the three points.

Academy created the first chance of the game in the 3rd minute. Alan Farquhar played a long ball out of defence up the right wing to Davie Allan. Allan cut the ball back across the edge of the box to Sam Mackay but his shot went straight to keeper Grant Pennet.

Three minutes later Deveronvale were on the attack. Sean Keith played the ball into Gary Harris on the edge of the Academy box. He played it onto Kevin Souter who got a shot on target that was turned around the post for a corner by Sean McCarthy. The corner was delivered deep to the edge of the box and it was headed back in to the far post for Chris Blackhall to nod home.

1 - 0

In the ninth minute Academy won a penalty when Davie Allan was adjudged to have been fouled. Chris Blackhall was booked by referee Calum Spence for protesting against the decision. Richard Macadie stepped up and he buried the spot-kick.

1 - 1

On the half-hour Academy took the lead. The ball was worked up the right flank to Gary Weir. He held it up before playing it into the feet of Macadie. Macadie slid Davie Allan in up the bye-line who cut it back and from 13 yards out Steven Anderson smashed the ball high into the roof of the net.

1 - 2

In the last 5 minutes of the first half Academy had two further chances to increase their lead. Davie Allan had a swerving shot from the edge of the box that flashed just wide of the right hand post. Sam Mackay then broke through the Vale defence getting on the end of a long diagonal ball from Richard Macadie. He went one-on-one with the keeper but was heavy with his touch in trying to go around him and he knocked the ball out of play.

It took 33 minutes of second-half play before the first chance was created. Liam Forbes had a powerful shot that went just passed the outside of the post.

On 83 minutes Davie Allan played in Steven Anderson one-on-one with keeper Pennet. Instead of taking on the shot himself Anderson squared across the face of goal for substitute Marc MacGregor but he was on the stretch and knocked it wide of target having failed to make good contact on the ball.

On 86 Vale took a throw in on the left taken by substitute Ross Aitken. James Duguid took it on the edge of the Academy box and he turned and shot but smoked it over the cross-bar.

With a minute of injury time played Vale pushed hard looking for the equalizer. Kevin Souter picked the ball up 35 yards from goal and he had a pop but it flew straight to McCarthy.

In the last action of the game Vale won a free kick out on the left. Souter delivered it into the box for Chris Blackhall but he flicked his attempt over the crossbar.
