Just kicked off at Grants Street Park. Richard Macadie is on the bench today following a slight injury niggle from Wednesdays match against Brora. David Allan takes his place in the starting line-up as Academy look to increase their 5 game winning streak.
Academy have the first chance of the game with 9 minutes played. Allan laid the ball off to Shearer who hit it first time but the ball smacked off the face of Neil Hastie's crossbar.
3 minutes later Academy open the scoring. More fired a long kick-out up-field. Two Clach defenders rose for the ball, but headed it into the path of Shearer. He squared the ball to Allan who went one-on-one with the keeper and coolly slotted home low into the left hand corner of the net, to make that 2 goals in 2 games.
0 - 1
Clach's only real chance of the half came in the 21st minute. Shearer failed to clear his lines of defence and the ball fell to Chris Sutherland but his driven shot was parried wide by More with a good save.
Academy have dominated the half, but failed to increase their one goal advantage.
Half Time 0 - 1
Not much goal mouth action in the second half with both teams battling out the game in mid field.
Both sides have made substitutions. Naismith and Sutherland coming off for MacLean and Watson in 65 minutes, and Macadie coming on for MacKenzie in 73 minutes.
The beast chance of the send half so far has just fallen to substitute Watson in 75 minutes. He picked up the ball following some slack Academy defending and drove a low left footed shot at More, but he got down and made a good safe save.
Neither team can find the onion-bag in the second period of play, so Academy run out winners taking all 3 points back up the A9.
Full Time 0 - 1
The win today sees Academy leap-frog Nairn and Forres into 7th spot in the table. Nairn got beat today 2-0 by Fraserburgh and Forres drew 2-2 away to Lossimouth. Buckie's game v Keith was postponed. This sets up 2 really mouth-watering games with Academy home to Forres next weekend, and away to Nairn the weekend after.
