Academy are back to league business again today with a tip to Fort William. With only 4 games on the card, due to the adverse weather this week, Academy have a chance to reclaim second spot in the table if the boys can secure the 3 points.
Tichie makes a few changes from last weekend's Cup final tie against Nairn County, with Shaun Sinclair, James Pickles and Lukasz Geruzel all making the starting line-up.
Craig Shearer is carrying a knock from last weekend so didn't make the trip, and Gary Weir and Michael Steven are on the bench.
It's a calm mild day in the shadows of Ben Nevis, with rain clouds forming over the Ban which are forecast to sweep in later in the match. The game has just kicked off.
15 mins played and Academy have had almost all of the possession. We had the ball in the back of the net after about 6 minutes when Richard Macadie cut the ball across the keeper into the bottom corner, but he was flagged offside.
Academy are dominating the possession but just can't seem to penetrate the Fort William defence with a killer final ball. Academy are being patient in the build-up, but the half ends scoreless.
Half Time - Fort William 0 - Wick Academy 0
Academy finally break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Shaun Sinclair picked the ball up in his own half. He looked up and saw the run of Sam Mackay and fired a long ball to him. Mackay flicked the ball onto Davie Allan who ran beyond the Fort defence and fired low to the left of keeper Iain Macleod and just inside the post.
0 - 1
4 minutes later and Academy double their advantage. Stevie Cunningham slipped the ball through to Davie Allan down the left channel. He drove forward and fired in a left foot shot which keeper Macleod got down and blocked but the ball rolled under his body and crept over the line.
0 - 2
Academy open up a 3 goal lead in the 74th minute. Richard Macadie tore up the right wing and delivered an inch perfect floated pass onto the head of Lukasz Geruzel and he powered home a headed from 12 yards out.
0 - 3
Fort break into the Academy box and have a shout for a penalty as the ball bounced up and appeared to hit Alan Farquhar's arm. Referee Potten was in close attendance and waved play on.
Referee Potten blows for full time and Academy record their 5th straight league win which lifts them into second spot.
