Academy travelled to Deveronvale today and secured a great 4-0 win avenging the 6-0 thrashing the Vale inflicted on us down there back in August last year.
The opening 10 minutes saw chances created at both ends. Academy's coming when Richard Macadie breezed up the right hand flank hitting the bye-line before crossing the ball across the face of goal for Gary Weir to run in but agonizingly he blasted his attempt over the cross-bar from only 2 yards out.
On the 22nd minute Academy carved open another great chance. Davie Allan chipped the ball into the box from the right bye-line for Weir who rose highest but headed over from 4 yards.
3 minutes later another chance came the way of the Scorries. Gary Weir picked the ball up on the left and crossed from the bye-line to Craig Shearer who had a pop from 18 yards that was saved by keeper Darran McConnachie but he couldn't hold the ball and it bounced to Weir who set up Davie Allan but he fired wide of target.
The chances kept coming for the Scorries when on 35 minutes. Macadie again drove down the right flank, cut into the box and cut the ball back to Davie Allan but his shot from 16 yards went over the bar.
McConnachie then saved an attempt by Macadie before Scott Fraser cleared as Weir tried to get his head to it.
Academy were not to be denied the opening goal much longer. 5 minutes from half-time Stevie Cunningham floated a free-kick into the Vale box and Craig Sheerer got his head on it to send it home.
0 - 1
Just before the half-time whistle Academy doubled their advantage. Academy won a corner that lead to a stramash in the Vale penalty area. They failed to clear it and it fell to Alex Lamb and he smashed it into the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Half Time: Deveronvale 0 - Wick Academy 2
Vale made two changes for the start of the second half with Robert Morrice and Kris Duncan coming on for Shawn Scott and Colin Charlesworth.
Academy had an early scare when a low shot from Kris Duncan came through a crowded area, flew across goal and thumped off the base of the post.
McConnachy was back in action again minutes later when Weir drove on goal and forced another good save as he pushed the ball for a corner with his legs.
Academy went 3 up on the hour. Shearer collected the ball in the middle of the park and drove at the Vale defence. He cut the ball to the left for Manson who squared to the centre of the 18 yard box where Sam Mackay was unmarked and he had all the time in the world to fire home.
0 - 3
Academy were not done there as Davie Allan picked up a though ball from Sam Mackay, skipped past his defender in the box and rifled home into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
0 - 4
The final Academy chance came from substitute Lukasz Geruzel. With back to goal 15 yards out he executed an over-head kick but his attempt smacked off the cross-bar.
More made a couple of good saves in the dying minutes to keep the clean sheet, and Academy complete 4 league games without conceding a single goal.
Full Time: Deveronvale 0 - Wick Academy 4
The win keeps Academy on top of the table on goal difference from Inverurie Locos, Formartine and Brora. All 4 teams winning their first 4 games.
