Wick Academy bounced back from their cup defeat today beating visitors Forres Mechanics in a seven goal thriller. The three points secured at least a 4th place finish for the Scorries.
In an action-packed game Lukasz Geruzel bagged a hat-trick and Richard Macadie also got his name on the score-sheet.
The visitors made a great start to the game going a goal up within the first 2 minutes. Dachi Khutsishvili drove the ball in low from the left and Ross Archibald diverted it into the Academy net from 6 yards with a neat touch.
0 - 1
Academy pulled back the equaliser on the quarter hour when Lukasz Geruzel latched onto a Steven Anderson cross from the left wing from 6 yards out.
1 - 1
What followed must be a contender for the goal of the season. Anderson fed the ball to Davie Allan on the half-way line. He surged forward beating 3 Forres defenders and from 16 yards out hammered a perfectly guided shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
2 - 1
Allan turned provider for the next goal as he teed up Gary Weir but Weir's shot was saved by keeper Stuart Knight. Geruzel was on the re-bound in a flash and he hammed home to give the Scorries a two goal advantage.
3 - 1
That advantage however lasted for less than a minute when Academy failed to clear a Khutsishvili cross and Lee Fraser smashed home with a low drive.
3 - 2
Unbelievably a third goal was scored in as many minutes. Sam Mackay fired a long ball up to Geruzel in the Forres box. His shot caught keeper Knight cold and he celebrated a well taken hat-trick with his fellow players.

Half Time - Wick Academy 4 - Forres Mechanics 2
Straight from the restart Forres pulled back the deficit. A Stuart Soane pile-driver smashed off the underside of the cross-bar, hit the back of James More's heat and into the net.
4 - 3
Neither team could find another goal and a very entertaining match ended with another three points for the Scorries. Keeper Stuart Knight picked up his second booking of the day as the teams left the park as he and referee Graham Elder exchanged words.
Half Time - Wick Academy 4 - Forres Mechanics 3
After the game Davie Allan was announced as the Supporters' Player of the Year and Under 17 player Ian Ross picked up the Youth Player of the Year.
