Academy cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win today against visitors Huntly. Gary Weir, Steven Anderson and Richard Macadie all got on the score-sheet but in truth it should have been more with Academy playing some great silky football.
Huntly keeper Fraser Hobday was the busiest player on the park, blocking several shots with his feet and dashing from his line to smother the ball before Wick forwards could line up a shot.
He was beaten in the 15th minute when Gary Weir ran into the box in pursuit of a through ball and shrugged off a challenge before turning to fire a left foot shot across Hobday into the far top corner of the net.
Wick Academy 1 - Huntly 0
By 24 minutes it was 2-0 with a candidate for goal of the season. Davie Allan sent the ball down the Wick right and Steven Anderson raced past a defender and from a tight angle directed an exquisite inch perfect chip over Hobday's head.

Half Time - Wick Academy 2 - Huntly 0
Just a minute after the interval Richard Macadie placed a shot beyond Hobday's reach for 3-0.
Wick Academy 3 - Huntly 0
Around the hour, Hobday made a double save to keep out Anderson and when Macadie drove in the second rebound from 15 yards it was kicked off the line by Michael Clark.
Huntly had their moments but failed to pierce the Wick rearguard. Their closest effort was a deflected 25 yarder from Ian Cruickshank which bounced off an upright.
Allan set up a great chance in stoppage time but with the goal gaping Macadie drilled the ball inches wide.

The result lifts Academy into 6th spot in the table and we now face a trip away to Strathspey Thistle next weekend.
