Academy's first chance of the game came just on the quarter hour mark. They broke up-field from a Clach corner. Gary Weir played it up to Davie Allan on the half-way line. Allan slopped Steven Anderson in up the left flank. He drove into the box and his shot was well saved by keeper Errol Watson.
Academy opened the scoring in their next attack. A long ball up the right wing found Davie Allan who took it first time from the 18 yard box and his shot went across the face of goal and in off the base of the far post.
0 - 1
On the half hour Academy created another chance. A Grant Steven ball is flicked on by Weir into Davie Allan. He forced keeper Watson into a save and Steven Anderson's follow-up shot was blocked for a corner.
A free kick by Blair Lawrie into the Academy box found David McGurk but his header flashed just wide of McCarthy's right hand post.

The first real chance of the second half fell to the home side. Ricky Wardrop worked the ball down the right hand side to Blair Lawrie. He crossed into the box onto the head of Morrison but he directed it straight into the arms of McCarthy.
On the hour Clach equalised. A long ball found Daniel Maclennan. He held off a challenge from Grant Campbell and broke into the box before rifling the ball across McCarthy and into the bottom right hand corner.

Clach came close again on 71. Academy conceded a free-kick on the right touch-line near the corner flag. Blair Lawrie swung it in and it missed everyone before flying just over the bar at the back post.
Sam Mackay conceded a free-kick for which he picked up a booking. Lawrie took it and lifted it over the wall only to see the ball bounce back off the right hand post.
At the other end of the park Academy won a corner on the left. Richard Macadie took it and it was flicked on by Davie Allan for Gary weir at the back post. Weir took it down and turned it goal-bound but it was cleared off the line by a Clach defender.
4 minutes from full-time Academy took the lead. Davie Allan was adjudged by referee Dan McFarlane to have bene fouled inside the box by Michael Finnis and he pointed to the penalty spot. Macadie hammered it straight down the throat of keeper Watson who got a hand to it but there was too much power in the shot and it flew last him.
1 - 2
Deep into injury time Finnis drew the wrath of referee McFarlane who flashed him two yellow cards in quick succession and he trudged off to leave his team for the final minute with only 10 men.
