Harmsworth Park passed a pitch inspection on the Saturday morning, but referee George Robertson wasn't happy with it when he arrived. After some debate it was finally agreed that the game would start, but the kick-off was delayed to 3:30pm.
Academy flew out of the blocks and scored what must be one of the quickest goals witnessed at Harmsworth Park, timed at ~10 seconds. Straight from the kick-off Alan Farquhar played the ball to Steven Anderson on the right. He drove forward and crossed for Marc MacGregor to tap home from close range.

Academy had two further great chances to increase their lead. Keeper Darren McConnachie pulled off a great save tipping a Sam Mackay shot over his cross bar, and from the corner Michael Steven then had a powerful drive that smashed off the post.
Lossiemouth's first real chance came from William Mathers who did well to work a yard of space inside the Academy box and Sean McCarthy reacted quickly to get down and make the save low down at the base of his left hand post.
Just past the half-hour Lossie levelled the scores. A rare mistake from skipper Alan Farquhar saw him well short with a back-pass which left Sean McCarthy in no-mans land. Scott Miller nipped in, went round McCarthy and kept his composure to slot the ball home from a fairly tight angle.

Half Time - Wick Academy 1 - Lossiemouth 1
Academy started the second half brightly and had two attempts cleared off the line following ping-pong in the Lossie box, once by keeper McConnachie from Marc MacGregor and the other by last ditch defending by Kevin Flett.
Gordon Connelly made the change that influenced the result taking Richard Macadie on for Marc MacGregor, as within 5 minutes of being on the pitch Macadie scored the winner. Davie Allan hit the burners up the left flank, beat two defenders to get the by-line and crossed for Macadie to hammer into the roof of the net.
2 - 1
Gary Manson came on for the final quarter hour and he had a shot that was saved by McConnachie. Lossie fought to the end in an attempt to find an equaliser but Academy held on and bagged all three points.
