Academy bounced back from the disappointment of Wednesday night's defeat at the hands of Buckie Thistle with a fine 1-0 win away to a Keith side who have been resurgent under manager Allan Hale. Steven Anderson's first half strike was all that separated the sides, but that was good enough to secure the three points.
Academy had Michael Steven and Davie Allan back for this encounter, but Sam Mackay was suspended and both Grant Steven and Ross Allan missed the trip due to injury.
The first chance of the game fell to the home side after only 3 minutes. Luke Barbour played a neat one-two with Donald Fraser up the left wing. Barbour drove into the box but from 10 yards out shot straight to Sean McCarthy.
Academy's first real opportunity came just passed the quarter hour. Richard Macadie flicked a long ball up to Davie Allan who squared to Steven Anderson but he also fired his shot straight to the keeper.
On 19 minutes Academy created another good chance. A throw-in into the Keith box was fought for by Macadie and a defender before falling to Marc MacGregor and from 16 yards out his hooked attempt was palmed over the crossbar by keeper Daniel Bell.
Academy broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. Macadie took a throw-in on the left which he delivered to the edge of the box to Steven Anderson. He had a shot that took a deflection and found the back of the net via the inside of Bell's left hand post.

Just before half time Keith won a free-kick 25 yards from goal which Donald Fraser hammer off the Academy wall. It fell to Bruce Milne but he fired his attempt wide of target.

On the hour Keith won a free kick that was played into the box. It was half-cleared and fell to Barbour and his shot looked goal-bound but McCarthy manged to tip it over the crossbar.
Second half attempts on goal were few and far between but Keith had a chance in the last minute of normal time to square the scores. Danny Mackay got a good block on a ball played into the Academy box but it broke kindly and fell to captain Michael Ewen 15 yards out. He had a crack on target that McCarthy parried away and Macadie followed up to hammer the ball clear of the danger area for a throw-in.
Keith ended the game with 10 men. Substitute Gary Weir got onto the end of a long kick-out from McCarthy and as he drove on Hamish Ritchie took him down on the edge of the box. Referee Ross Hardie reached for his pocket and send him for an early bath.

The result today put's Academy up to 8th spot in the table and we now welcome Formartine United to Harmsworth Park on Wednesday night, 23rd March, 8pm kick-off.
