Fans and players braved horrendous weather conditions at Harmsworth Park today as Academy and visitors Forres battled out a 2-2 draw. Both sets of players must be credited with putting on an entertaining game of football with a strong cross-wind and torrential driving rain persistent for the full 90 minutes.
Steven Anderson stuck away his 17th goal of the season to put the Scorries a goal to the good after only 8 minutes. Stuart Soane squared the scores on 25 minutes to put the teams in at half-time on level terms.
Richard Macadie put Academy ahead again shortly after the break when he scored his 150th league goal for the club, but substitute Garry Tweedie earned Forres a share of the points with only 7 minutes of time left on the clock.
Academy started well and in the eighth minute a long ball from Sam Mackay turned defence into attack in an instant and released Anderson, who skipped by the last defender and slotted past Forres keeper Stuart Knight with the aid of a slight deflection.

Knight had the toughest job of any player in the first half with any goal kick or long clearance being blown straight back towards his goal by the ferocious wind.
It was Forres, though, who were able to use the weather to their advantage when they grabbed an equaliser in the 26th minute. Former Brora Rangers midfielder Alan Pollock floated a high corner into the mix, causing panic in the home defence and the ball ended up falling kindly to Stuart Soane. The big centre back made no mistake in lashing the ball past Sean McCarthy.

Half Time - Wick Academy 1 - Forres Mechanics 1
Academy retook the lead two minutes into the second half when the Forres defence failed to deal with Anderson's cross from the left and Macadie easily tapped in at the back post.
2 - 1
With the wind now at their backs, the visitors were launching the ball long at every opportunity and from one such instance John Cameron latched onto a Lee Fraser flick-on but he scuffed his effort to give McCarthy an easy save.
Academy were finding plenty space on the counter-attack and were inches away from extending their lead midway through the half when Sam Mackay slipped in Anderson, but his effort cannoned off the inside of the post.
The match was end-to-end at times and it was Forres who were next to threaten when Cameron found space in the box, but McCarthy was out quickly to make a great save and smother the rebound.
Gary Weir replaced Maciver with quarter of an hour remaining and the substitute had a great chance to seal all three points for Academy when he was played through by Sam Mackay, only to see his first effort well blocked by Knight and his rebound cleared off the line by Soane.
In the end it was a Forres sub who would strike the decisive blow in the game with seven minutes remaining when Garry Tweedie, on the park a matter of minutes, chested down a cross from the right and hit an excellent half-volley into the top corner to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
