Match Report

Wick took the lead in the 22nd minute when a Marc Macgregor shot from just inside the left edge of the 18 yard box took a slight deflection of the toe of Nairn’s Glen Main and the ball squeezed between Nairn keeper Dylan Maclean and the near post.
Academy looked comfortable pressing forward and had several chances to increase their lead but in the 31st minute Max Ewan let fly from the right and his shot left Wick keeper Sean McCarthy with no chance.
The visitors restored their lead in the 53rd minute when Davie Allan was brought down in the penalty area and Gary Manson dispatched the spot kick past Dylan Maclean.
Craig Gunn replaced Gordy MacNab in the 67th minute and immediately ran on to a long ball from Sean McCarthy and fired the ball past the Nairn keeper with his first touch of the ball.
The 75th minute saw the games only real flashpoint when Nairn’s Frase Dingwall and Wick’s Michael Steven were both red carded for violent conduct.
The former Elgin City man then rounded off the scoring for Wick in the 89th minute with a swerving and dipping free kick from the edge of the 18 yard box after Davie Allan had been bundled over .
