Academy notched up their third win on the spin tonight with a comfortable 2-0 defeat over visitors Forres Mechanics. The game marked a fantastic milestone for Gary Manson. He was made captain for the night as he took to the park for his 500th competitive appearance for Academy, in this his 16th season with the club.
Academy dominated position of the ball and Manson who set up Academy's first goal of the evening after 20 minutes. He drove up the left flank and played a cracking long pass to the feet of Davie Allan at the edge of the Forres penalty box. Allan jinked his way past his marker Graeme Grant before delivering the ball on a plate across the six yard box for Gary Weir. Weir hammered his shot off the under-side of the crossbar and into the net.

Both Lee Fraser and Liam Baxter had shots that flashed just wide of target as the first half came to an end, but Sean McCarthy in the Wick goal went in for his half-time cuppa without having to make a save.

18 minutes after the re-start Academy doubled their lead. Allan Farquhar played a long ball up-field to Davie Allan who managed to beat the off-side trap and he screamed forward with his blistering pace to go one-on-one with keeper Stuart Knight. Knight came to meet Allan but the Academy striker kept his cool and slotted the ball home 18 yards from goal.

As the game approached full time a melee kicked off when Ross MacPherson sliced the feet from under Davie Allan and Graeme Grant then appeared to have a go at Allan as he was on the deck. After consulting with both his assistants referee David Watt booked Graeme Grant and Steven Anderson.
Sean McCarthy was forced into his first save of the match with 4 minutes left on the clock, as he turned a Forres shot that came through a ruck of players over the top of his crossbar.

So a clean sheet and a comfortable win the for the Scorries and we now travel to Harlaw Park on Saturday to face Inverurie Locos, in what is certain to be a stern test.
